Middle Eastern on UWS?

Caphilltrish Nov 27, 2013 03:40 PM

My husband and I love just about any kind of Middle Eastern food. I think we usually end up getting Lebanese when we're at our other home in DC. Love chickpeas, lamb chops or kabob, samosa, naan, and so much more. We also love Afghan food -- eggplant, pumpkin, lamb chops (sensing a theme?), rice w/ raisins & carrots, etc. Is there anything on the UWS or fairly close by to help us get a much-needed fix??

While in town you would most likely enjoy a trip to brooklyn to sahadi's- its overwhelming in the best way:

Nearby serious eats wrote up this cafe:

There is Ali Baba on Amsterdam Ave and 84. Not a formal restaurant at all, a counter with a few tables. But some good food. It's kosher and therefore closed Friday night/Saturday.

I am a neophyte's neophyte of Middle Eastern cuisine, so take this with a giant lump of salt, but my two visits to Pasha have been very festive and quite enjoyable. Good imam biyaldi, and an interesting vegetable güveç.

I had the same thought about Pasha, Turkish but much of it close to Lebanese. (Not to be confused with Pasha the nightclub.)
