Masala Art or Minerva or (fill in the blank)?

My in-laws have requested Indian food for dinner tomorrow night. They're flying into Logan around 5:00 and will be staying on Route 1 in Dedham. Convenience is somewhat important so I've ruled out restaurants in Cambridge and Allston/Brighton. The two restaurants I've thought of are Masala Art in Needham and Minerva in Norwood. I haven't been to either one so would appreciate a steer toward one or the other. Also, if there's another candidate I haven't thought of, I'd like to know about that as well.

  1. Masala Art is fine if you can deal with the clubby vibe they try to put on in the evening - I swear, I've heard Wu Tang at their lunch buffets. Multiple times.

Food is good though, and they have a range of interesting vegetables dishes that I don't often see everywhere else.

    1. I really like the food at Masala Art. It's overpriced for sure, but you're paying the Needham Center premium I guess.

      1. May I suggest Singh's on Route 16 in Wellesley? It is not far out your way especially if you are also considering Needham center. Here is their website:

Excellent suggestion, with which I fully agree! Singh's is great.

Sames - it's my favorite in the area, especially the kebabs.

I've been to Singh's twice but not for a couple of years. The food was very good but the service was quite disorganized and slow both times I was there. Have you been there recently enough to be able comment on the service?

I went about six months ago on a weeknight, and service was fine (though there was hardly anyone else there).

I like Singh's, too, but it's not all that convenient to get to from Dedham and the weather is supposed to be nasty tomorrow night.

Thanks. I didn't want to bore my fellow CHs with travel logistics, but I believe the plan is to go from Logan to dinner and then to the hotel, so Wellesley is just as convenient as Needham.

              3. I have only had one experience at Minerva, but I thought it was some of the better indian food I've had in the area. The dishes I ate had a good depth of spices. I would gladly go back whenever I found myself looking for lunch or dinner in the area.

                1. Himalayan Bistro in West Roxbury is really good, and probably pretty close to where they are staying.
