ONE Dinner in Manhattan

flowergirl Nov 25, 2013 08:35 PM

Visiting the East Coast from L A over Thanksgiving weekend. I will be in Manhattan only for one dinner. Have heard Daniel is amazing but do not wish to spend $200 a person.
Ideas? Always wanted to try Smith and Wollinsky's. Is it still good?
Love Italian, Continental, Steak and Mediterranean. Would like to spend up to $100 per person before drinks. Thanks!

Are you dining solo? If so, you might be able to grab a bar seat at Babbo.

I'd do something that's "only in NY" rather than Smith & Wollensky.

If you want to do steak then you need to do Keens because it is only in NYC and IMO it's a classic.

Minetta Tavern at the bar could also be a worthy steak choice.

I will be with my husband. Any area is good and does not need to be steak. Do not want Ethnic as we have so much of that in L A

Even if you are seeking to avoid ethnic food, I'd still take a serious look at places like Louro, Momofuku Ssam, Acme, Txikito, Pearl & Ash, etc.

Also you're planning pretty late so might find it hard to get reservations.
