Updated list of places - Portugues custard tarts

Looking for places where they bake them fresh during the week. If we have time, I'd like to pick them up for DH's coworkers.

I have no idea what their baking schedule is like, but my preferences are Doce Minho on Dufferin, Seara on Keele or any Caldense, though I find the last to be variable depending on date and location. The first two are more reliably good.

Thanks; Caldense was my go to but the last few times they've been stale. I'll look for the others.

Someone brought some from R Bakery to a get together and I found them better than the ones I tried in the city.

            Yes, http://www.rbakery.ca/#!
I found their tarts less sweet so not sure if that's what you are looking for.

I feel Doce Minho are the best.

There is a little place on Davenport I thnk that someone once told me made the best tarts. Even better than DM. I don't remember the name and have not been in.

My vote goes to Venezia Bakery (www.veneziabakery.ca), two locations along Ossington.

By far the best I have found is at the Brazilian Bakery on the N side of Dundas just W of Brock.

Agreed, but, much as I have right-left confusion, I had to think about the location for Brasil Bakery--it's east of Brock. West of Brock on the north side of Dundas, virtually no retail.

Nope it's definitely west of Brock. And you can cross the street and get focaccia at omg!

omg is East of Brock -- it's just west of Sheridan.

Is it Brasil Bakery at 1566 Dundas St W that we're talking about? http://www.blogto.com/bakery/brazilba...

You're right, sorry I always get Brock and Sheridan mixed up! Sheridan is the bakery then down Brock for the beer store. D'uh! :)

As someone who routinely gets East and West mixed up when providing directions to my own home, I have felt your pain.

That's the one, and I was starting to feel seriously delusional--I drive through there nearly every day. Perhaps Pete's NoFrills on Lansdowne might be exerting a reverse gravitational force and changing directions around...

Also note that these are the "buttery" tarts as opposed to the "lemony" ones. I love them!
