Lobster rolls are back at chowda house

My wife and I had a nice lunch today. We both love lobster rolls and decided to indulge in these traditional summer-time new England snacks in the cold weather. I had the rolls here back in the summer and I think these are comparable.

I loved the fact that I walked in with a frozen, wind beaten face and had a dish that brought me back to summer time maine. Its been only a few months since my last Maine pilgrimage and I was excited that I could get a decent lobster roll a few miles from home.

The fries, as noted last time, need some work. However, the fact that we can get a tasty lobster roll here in red bank is fantastic.

My wife found out about the rolls on facebook. They are closed tomorrow so check with them to see about availability.

Cooked hunks of lobster either mixed with melted butter or a lemon zest aoli, piled on griddled split top rolls. $17.95

Thats kind of expensive considering a whole lobster costs $4.99 lb?do they make their own rolls also?

Yes, but fortunately the amount of shell in a lobster roll is usually negligible.

That is a fair price for a lobster roll....although back to my original point fair is a moving target based on the amount of meat/size of the lobster roll.

I'm sure some places would, for a lesser price, serve you a live lobster and a plain roll and let you have at it from there... :-)

Tapas, a 1 pound lobster will give you about 4 ounces of meat, unless it is a new shell, which may actually give you less than that. Often the lobsters you see for $4.99 are new shell.

              Thank you for the info.....

      2. Some lobster rolls go for as much as $25.00. I had a lobster roll at Panera last summer and it was terrible. Hardly any lobster. It was $17.99.

I just avoid them all together ...just not worth it to spend over $100.00 for your family to have a lobster rolls!
          I'll make my own lol

You could make the same argument against eating out anywhere. God forbid you blow $60 chowing down on hot dogs somewhere!

I guess your right who cares just enjoy whatever you eat.......you only live once!

Yes, but the mark up on lobster just kills me.
