Ratte Potatoes in NYC?

After reading Joel Robuchon's Mashed Potato recipe (http://www.cookingbythebook.com/recip...), I've wanted to cook them for my Thanksgiving dinner. However, the recipe calls for ratte potatoes, and I don't know where to find them. Sure, I can always substitute, but I'd prefer the real deal when doing it the first one.

Anybody know a place I can find them?

  1. La Ratte. Union Square Greenmarket. Try Mountain Sweet Berry and Pfaffenroth, for starters. Weds and Saturdays. There are probably other stands that have them as well.

Union Square Greenmarket is probably the best source but I have seen them at Eli's, Fairway, and sometimes Garden of Eden.

Fairway will probably have the best price- call the location you're going to first to check.
And that recipe is awesome, be sure to have enough for leftovers!

The ones from Mountain Sweet Berry are very good. Very easy to find, they almost only sell patatos:-)
But their German Butterball are also very good (for everydays mashed potatos...)

The ratte he sells was a special request from Daniel Boulod. Good enough for Daniel...good enough for me.

Although it is no longer the season for fresh-dug potatoes, Pffaffenroth at USQ Greenmarket is excellent for various kinds of heirloom potatoes, including La Ratte. Prices lower than Mountain Sweet Berry, I think.
