Cane's chicken

  • 6

Hit up the new location near the office on Guad / MLK and was unimpressed. Highlights were the piercing screams of the girl calling out the ready orders, the underseasoned and slightly dry chicken, the worst crinkle cut fries I've had (so far Mighty Fine sets the bar in Austin), and finally the smell of my grease-laden clothes the rest of the day. The slightly sweet slaw was decent. that's it. i'm not sure what the rationale would be to choose this over Chik Filet next door unless you were on an ultra low sodium diet. Not much salt in Cane's chicken / breading.

  1. Chik-Filet has a poor record on certain issues, that would be a reason.

I've noticed at DFW Cane's locations that the quality is really variable. Sometimes my strips have been a bit dry as you mention, other times generously sized and perfect (the size may be the problem). The Cane's sauce is pretty good.

Chick-fil-A has a poor record on issues? Whose issues, what issues? Poor quality, inferior service or does it just not taste so good?

Some people get peeved at their closed sunday policy - I do know they are tied to protestant Christian ownership of some type, but don't know if this is a real "issue". A buddy of mine and I looked into what the franchise costs are, and they take only a small investment but a HUGE profit cut. And to become an owner I'm pretty sure you must be an evidently very religious and very Christian person. So maybe their policies for employment reflect those values and may not be very kind to certain types of employees' lifestyles, etc. I'm guessing here... I've not heard though, unlike what I've heard for CrackerBarrel (lots of anti-gay press).

I need to try Cane's Chicken........

The employees at Chik-Fil-A are so nice......they look at you with those pinwheel eyes.

            "pinwheel eyes" .... perfect.

most annoying is the foil wrapper on the sandwiches that make them soggy as hell. not a fan of that. i use that restaurant for the least breaded chicken nugget fix in the business. for those of us that need not the extra carbs, that is a plus.

I think this has been discussed elsewhere on CH, but here's a link to a news story: http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/12/04/t...

(I see I've boycotted them so long I can't remember how they misspell their name ;))
