Last minute dinner on Thanksgiving-Newport RI

foodieX2 Nov 20, 2013 05:13 PM

We haven't been in years but our Thanksgiving plans fell thru and we are entertaining packing up and going away. Open Table showed a number of openings- The Muse, Asterisk, Conservatory at the Vanderbilt and the Grill at 41North.

Has any one had a holiday meal at these places or dined there recently? The last major holiday we ate out for was Valentines Day in the mid '90s preferring to entertain at home and feel like most places dial it in on the holidays. However we are willing try again as just getting away will be wonderful.

If not is there any place we could get into on Thursday? We are open to anything except asian/indian/sushi as I am sure my husband will want more traditional fare if we are not eating turkey, LOL. Seafood, Italian, etc

We will have a car and are willing to drive if needed. The desire to have cocktails and wine will out weigh major travel time. Most likely staying downtown.

edited to add: that price is a non issue (high or low). We are also prepare to dress up or down as needed.

Not in Newport, but the Ocean House in Westerly does a great Thanksgiving dinner. It may be too late to get a reservation, but it may be worth a shot? The location is also very nice!

Here's a list from ProJo listing most of RI:

Can't help with eating in Newport for years, so no help there.

There are a lot of Newport reviews on this board so when you think of a particular restaurant or Newport in general you should get a lot of hits searching here.

Good Luck and have a good trip.

Thanks for the link. I already have a list of places serving Thaksgiving, I was hoping to get reviews about the food.

Maybe my google fu isnt working but I could not find any hits for the places I listed except for the Muse and that was from well over a year ago.

I can't comment on the ProJo listings for Newport but you might enjoy the Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly.
