Tabasco Sauce

seikoloco Nov 19, 2013 10:50 AM

I noticed that the Tabasco sauce containers have just a K symbol on them in the store, but today I saw 2 Tabasco bottles in a restaurant supervised by the OK. Does that mean Tabasco sauce is ok to use, according to the OK even with just a K designation?

It is on the CRC list for acceptable bar condiments - and they have tweeted about it - https://twitter.com/cRcKosher/status/...

The ones with just a "K" are certified by Rabbi Nota Greenblatt from Memphis and is indeed accepted by the CRC.

yeah, every mainstream hashgacha allows its use.

If it makes you uncomfortable, Crystal has OU. Not exactly the same though.

It shouldn't make anyone uncomfortable. If the OU, OK, etc. allows its use at restaurants they supervise (as per Chef Moishe above), how can anyone question whether it is appropriate to use?

Agreed, that's why I asked, if the ok supervision lets it in the restaurant, that's good enough for me.

Rav Nota was my first rav hamachshir at GAN EDEN, for the OU. His expertise is not only in kashrus- he wrote my sister's get as well, and is one of the most prolific get writers in the USA. He's also a great guy, though that couldn't factor on his resume.
