Even *I* can do better than that.

Good lord. How do you take photos like that and think "appetizing"?!?!

Maybe Santa will get Martha a new smart phone with a few pixels, this year :/

Yeah, I was looking those over last night.... My pics are pretty terrible, but her stuff makes me look like a professional.

I'm surprised that someone who is supposed to be so imaginative and creative can't take a photo

It really is pretty astounding, isn't it? 'Course, let's face it, how long do you think it's been since she actually did anything like that? She has staff now. But, yeah, my pix are WAY better than hers and I can't snap them fast enough and then get the phone/camera PUT AWAY!

My personal theory is that, at this point, she is pranking us.

I scrolled back through her Twitter account, back to about August, and I found some photos that were better. Not amazing, but definitely seems like she tried.

              Here's a recent tweet: https://twitter.com/MarthaStewart/sta...

She says "Now if any one thinks this is a bad photo you are ridiculous. Tartuffi bianchi and fettuccine at le cirque."

This is a woman who has probably seen hundreds of thousands of pictures of food over her career, so I don't think there's any way she really believes this.

                Now there's a thought.

Interesting. Do you think in a few weeks she'll be endorsing a new smart phone with a next-gen camera? And suddenly her photos will be on par with those in her magazine?

Ding, ding, ding! I think we have a winner :)

I always appreciate your outside-box thinking, Dave, but I think your theory of a yucky-photo viral marketing campaign is way beyond any plausible box. If there's one thing we all know about Martha, from her original meticulous cookbooks to her shows (I once watched her humiliate an intern on a live show for bringing her a metal demitasse spoon for caviar, not the correct horn spoon!) she's a control freak regarding her brand. To publish ugly photos intentionally (especially via such a personal medium like the smartphone) is the height of unlikely. Without editors, art directors, stylists and photographers, Martha is just kind of inept, mortal like the rest of us.

i also think shes pranking us- if you have followed her over the years, she credits her pranking people as one of her best fun qualities!--- ive been known to watch a full episode( years ago) and she " got me!" at the end--- i think she pranks david letterman all the time
( i do believe also, that she will, in fact be, promoting something concerning this--- she is a savvy businesswoman

Pranking us and defaming some pretty famous restaurants

I'll cut her some slack. She's 72 and using a cell phone. I'm much younger and have problems seeing the shots on my phone well. Sometimes I upload and think the picture is good but when I see it large, it's terrible.

Yeah but this is a woman who can string together 80,000 pinhead-sized beads and apply them to a dozen gilded pomegranates before lunch!

True! Maybe all that gilding made her eyes boggly by lunch!

These days, I suspect her minions are doing scut work like that. It's just possible that Martha's vision is not what it once was, and worse than she thinks it is. I knew I needed cataract surgery on one of my eyes but thought I saw decently from the other. Once I got the bionic eye, I realized how lousy the vision in my "good" eye is!

After my mom had cataract surgery, she was upset to see how old she really looked. They were a nice filter for the wrinkles.

Even a $5000 camera couldn't make some of that food look tempting.
