moms 50th bday- help!

I'm planning my moms 50th bday, it will be 7 people (including a 13 and 14 yr old) I'm looking for a place where we can sort of dress up, nothing too fancy but not a place you'd wear jeans either. Also, I want to be able to laugh and have a good time without bothering anyone so maybe somewhere not too "serious" or that has a private area for groups. I'm willing to spend up to $100 a person if that includes drinks and tip. A tall order but any ideas?

You should consider The NoMad. Great food and service, and a lot of fun in the Atrium.

But I don't think the Atrium would fit the requirement of "not a place you'd wear jeans" and at full song it gets pretty loud in there (I like to call it an energetic vibe) which is great if you are okay with it.

I would suggest looking into Betony.

Could always just request the parlor or fireplace room when making the reservation. NoMad > Betony for me.

In addition to my +1 for The NoMad...

Colicchio & Sons Tap Room - not the best food but beautiful space, great service, and plenty of large tables.
Dovetail - wonderful food and a classy (albeit not exactly trendy) ambiance
Mas Farmhouse - sleek design and solid farm-to-table cooking
L'Apicio - modern space, fun and affordable
Locanda Verde - a bit more rustic but fun
