Barren Hill Tavern

The old General Lafayette now being run by people who know what they are doing! The beer brewed in house is very good, the selection of beer brewed elsewhere is exceptional. The pub food menu is very plain but everything we tasted was executed well.
The smallish portion of fried squid was melt in your mouth delicious, served with fried hot pepper pieces, a la salt baked squid. The salads were fresh and well made. We tried the grilled radicchio salad and arugula with beet and chèvre salad. The wagyu burger was juicy and cooked perfectly and the hand cut perfectly cooked steak fries were the best thing there. We tried one dessert so far, the caramel chocolate pot de creme which was very good but served cold out of the fridge which is my one quibble.
Nice to have a casual comfortable place for a bite to eat and great beer.
So far they are serving dinner and late night.

  1. Didn't know it had reopened and will have to give it a try.

    1. I drive by there all the time, and found it interesting that Brittingham's (almost next door)seemed to have reopened on the same day as Barren Hill opened in the closed General Lafayette. Or am I wrong?
