Creeping Cucumber

meatn3 Nov 17, 2013 11:20 AM

I found this "weed" growing in my brothers yard in Florida. The cucumbers are tiny and delicious with a hint of lemon flavor. I harvested some seeds so hopefully I can grow them next year.

Has anyone tried to raise these in pots from seed?

Well, I've grown them in a hollow stump which funcionally is like a large pot. The main problem you may have to deal with is that the vines can grow massively, so a small pot may wind up being completely buried.

I've seen this on a seed website and have been considering adding it to my garden this year but I had no idea that it is considered mildly toxic (in NC, which is my state, by the way). The site where I saw the seeds didn't give this info. Thanks for the link.
