World of Beer - New Brunswick

Drove through New Brunswick this evening, noticed that a new place has opened up, World of Beer, at the old Soho on George location. Didn't stop, but when I got home, checked for a web site, and found it. It indicates they have 500 different beers and serve rudimentary tavern food. It was very crowded when we drive by.

  1. I was there before the Rutgers basketball game on Thursday night. Seated immediately at 5:00 although the place was mobbed by 6:30.
If you're into craft beer, this is the place for you. The wait staff is required to take a 'beer class', so she undstood the beer menu. We had Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA, Troegs Perpetual IPA, and Stone Ruination. All tasted fresh enough. Food was passable..ordered Italian flat bread and bratwurst on a pretzel roll.
Although I had a good experience I understand the beer menu does not always keep up with what's actually on tap. I have learned that there is a World of Beer app for your phone that provides real time tap lists at all of their locations.
I will be back, but plan my visits far from their peak times.

    1. I went there last week and the beer menu is fantastic.

They have a food item called a Pint of Bacon. Its a pint class filled with a large quantity of tasty bacon strips that are glazed in brown sugar. Its a killer app while having a beer.

      1. Thanks for the heads up and comments. I liked the old SoHo on George and never really knew what happened, why they closed, etc. I only went there 4 or 5 times, but I liked it each time.

Anyway, New Brunswick has so much to offer -- and a lot of "pub grub" type places. This is an interesting, unique offering, tapping into (no pun intended) the craft, micro, etc. beer market.

        Thanks again for the info.
