Family Restaurant in Vanderbilt area of Nashville

I'm a Vanderbilt alum returning for a quick visit next week. I need a restaurant where we can have a casual family dinner with a couple of elderly relatives: I want quiet, casual, easy access. I'm not quite up-to-date with options, but am thinking Noshville, Rotiers, or Tin Angel would fit the bill. Any other suggestions?

  1. Tin Angel would work. There's also Fido on 21st for a very laid back/casual breakfast/lunch/dinner option. Bricktops on West End which would fit the bill.

    1. I was at Nashville (midtown) recently for dinner and found it rather underwhelming. Yes, I know it's a local chain and a diner-NY deli restaurant, but my chicken soup was watery and insipid, and my burger was dry.

Maybe they're better for breakfast, who knows.

      Have you considered J Alexander?

      1. Thanks for your replies. We ended up eating at Midtown Cafe, right across the street (19th Ave. S.) from our hotel, the Marriott Courtyard. It met all our needs with easy access and accommodating service. The food was very good. My one complaint was that it was surprisingly loud. Our group enjoyed the mahi mahi over lobster risotto, the crabcakes, and loved the lemon artichoke soup. For dessert, we shared a trio of sorbet (mango, tangerine, and cherry -- so, so) and a triple scoop of pistachio gelato (delicious). I would definitely go there again, especially when staying in that location.
