Columbia Restaurant? St. Petersburg?

I was in the process of replying to a query about Cuban food in St. Petersburg. I was mildly perplexed why no one recommended Columbia for a group willing to walk from the Vinoy, so I did a bit of research. The St. Petersburg location has completely disappeared from the Columbia web site. That's a shame! I liked that branch so much the two times we ate there. In contrast, the two times we have eaten at the St. Armand's Circle branch in Sarasota, I was indifferent to the food and downright unhappy with the service.

When did Columbia close it's doors? Does anyone know if the company is looking for a new St. Petersburg location? We are Sarasota snowbirds, but get into St. Petersburg with some regularity.

The Columbia Restaurant is now closed at the Pier in St. Petersburg. This was part of the ongoing effort to decide how to revamp the St. Petersburg Pier. The restaurant was closed about 3-4 months ago.
