Coming to DC next weekend

Hello all

Will be driving down to DC next weekend for a weekend trip. Need somewhere to grab a late dinner (9:00-9:30). We'll be staying in Arlington, but have the car. So parking would be great, but we aren't opposed to the Metro. Either way, right now it looks like Bluejacket, but was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Looking for interesting, casual, reasonably priced. Thanks in advance!!!

  1. Rays to the Third. If I went it would be for a medium rare burger or steak, creamed spinach, crab bisque, very good wines by the glass. (Lots of pics on Yelp of their fries but those are nothing special, I don't bother with them.) Or I might try their fried chicken. Or Rays the Steaks, it's been a while since I've been there but it's the same owner and also very good.

    1. Thanks! Also looking for some good cheap food near the Smithsonian and monuments. Any ideas?

Maine Avenue Fish Market isn't far from Jefferson Memorial. I usually end up at Jimmy's Grill for fried fish, oysters, chowder, or crab balls. Some of the other shops will do raw bar items and sides. Cheap by DC standards.

the museum area is oddly bereft of good places to eat but my fave is the Mitsitam café in the native American museum (also a great museum). they serve foods from all over the Americas and the sides are delish...things like quinoa and lots of veggies. It's spendy but really convenient (on the mall) and yummy as I said.

The American History/National Gallery of Art side of the Mall, Teaism, Protein Bar, Paul's and Chop't are acceptable, if boring. They're all clustered near the Navy Memorial. Luke's Lobster and Taylor are a few streets further, Luke's isn't cheap though. If you want really, really, really cheap, go to the Lincoln Dinner across from Ford's Theater, but that one isn't for everyone.

          2. In Arlington Liberty Tavern may be a good choice, I think they serve dinner fairly late.
