Pho in Queens

This is an emergency. I am pregnant and need to eat Pho. Where do I go?

  1. Where in Queens are you? Do you have access to a car or are you looking to walk/subway, or get delivery?

    1. I have a car and will be happy to drive anywhere in Queens.

Have you been to Pho Bang in Elmhurst? Mekong East in Bayside. Bunker if you like a non-traditional chicken pho. Cyclo if you like a huge bowl of pho (super pho).

Negative on Pho Bang in Elmhurst. Sorry, but the food is nasty. :-) Consider the one on Kissena Blvd in Flushing

I haven't been to Pho Bang in a few years but I thought the pho was fine. Did you dislike the food there in general or the pho? The reason I didn't recommend the one on Kissena is because parking in Flushing is such a pain. :)

I didn't like their pho. I tried it twice and both times the broth was thin and dull-tasting: If you prefer a simpler taste of northern-style pho I would rather recommend Pho Bac across the parking lot. it is actually the best Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood (out of 3), although the menu selection is not large.

I've tried Pho Bac as well, I don't think either of them are really good to be frank. I rarely eat Vietnamese in NYC because there just doesn't seem to be any aspiration to be great (e.g. something on the level of Sripraphai or Ayada, etc.)

I totally agree with you: the quality of Vietnamese food is not that high in NY. The best in Elmhurst is hardly a compliment.

I'd go as far to call it sad. Once I visited Falls Church I realized how pathetic the Vietnamse offerings in nyc were.

Ok good because I thought I was missing something. I was dreaming of the the Pho joints in the San Gabriel Valley...but I will have to make due. Will try Bunker this weekend. Thank you all.

      2. Mekong is in the Hi Y shopping center on156St and Northern Blvd. It has parking, good pho and soup dumplings.

        1. sorry it's an emergency :(
Philly is the place to go tbh.

they have a very limited menu--soups, broken rice with grilled meats, spring roll and summer roll and that's about it.

It might be worth driving to Philly, considering the crappy Viet scene here in nyc...
