I picked up the Holiday edition of Food & Drink and I am disappointed at the lack of Christmas cheer. I appreciate other traditions, but why they stripped the joy of Christmas is just sad.
I would like to see the magazine ended:1) It must be incredibly expensive to produce but no data are ever made available2) It puts privately published magazines at a severe disadvantage, an abuse of monopoly power
It is paid for by forcing major alcohol distributors to buy ads, or else lose shelf space.Even so, they must lose money on the French edition, but never admit it.
Which is still probably cheaper than the alcohol distributors having to provide promo material to every corner store in quebec...
It is wretched excess...
My wife, who can always find ONE worthwhile recipe in every issue since 1990 or so, could not find a single thing worth cooking.
Few wine notes too..
I agree. In fact, I'd say the past 3 years have been disappointing. I still pick one up but hardly even bother to look through it.
