  1. T&S Seafood on North Lamar in Austin does a very credible version.

Try La Caravelle -Dallas north of Beltline on Greenville.

Please! Don't get me started on T&S Seafood in Austin. The best Chinese seafood restaurant in Texas!!!
I live in Dallas and frequently eat at First Chinese BBQ in Dallas and, when visiting my son, in Austin as well.
But, T&S seafood is my absolute favorite! Especially, their superb Dim Sum brunch on Sunday. I could move to Austin just to be closer to them!

I disagree. I've stayed in Singapore a number of times and have had authentic Singapore Chili Crab. This is not the same thing at all. In Singapore Chili crab is usually Snow Crab or larger, comes cracked open, and is covered with a thick red paste that has some spice to it. This was dungeness crab covered in egg drop soup. No spice at all. Overall I would say the restaurant was ok but not anywhere near the authentic taste that I was looking for.

        2. I just saw this post for Singapore Chili Crab. Is it worth it?? My mother and I are ready to make a trip to Austin if it is! Also, does anyone know where one could find Roti Prata with curry gravy in Texas? or maybe some Chicken Rice Singapore style??

Roti Prata - try Banana Leaf on Bellaire in Houston.

          2. Secret Recipe in Carrollton might have it. You have to request the Singaporean menu. I haven't been there. Personally, I just got back from Singapore and I liked the black pepper crab better. A pretty good cookbook is Cradle of Flavor.

Since I got a copy of the menu, yes, Secret Recipe does have them. They are seasonal and only on the weekends I would call before heading out.

Jindomommy is correct you do need to request the Malay/Singaporean menu.

            2. You can get chili crab at Lion City Chinese Cafe in Plano. They have a full Singaporean menu, with chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow, prawn mee soup, etc. The service is dreadfully slow, but the food is good. The chili crab is finger-lickin' good. It's in the shopping complex at the northwest corner of Custer and W Parker (2109 W Parker Rd).
