Holiday Party

We are trying to find a restaurant (ideally within walking distance of 30th Street Station) but Center City would be OK. We have 25ish people and no more than $100/person including food, drinks and tip. We are looking at a mid-week dinner. Any good tips? Someone is recommending the World Cafe? I've never been.
Thanks so much!

      Isn't that quite expensive?

JG Domestic would be well within your price range, depending on how you handle the liquor (open bar etc.). They have private dining and the facility is physically connected to 30th Street. http://www.jgdomestic.com/events.html.

In University City you could also look at another Garces property Distrito. The downstairs Tequila lounge holds 25 and would be perfect for your group.

Pod in the inn of Pennsylvania/Hilton would work also. They have private rooms.

City Tap house at 39 and walnut is another good location.

I would avoid world cafe, its a good venue for music, not a fan of the food.

Sbraga's place that is replacing tria probably is too small for you.

Thanks so much for this info. Called and the Tequila lounge is booked. They do have a private room that I hope to secure.

Slightly closer to 30th St you might check out Han Dynasty if Chinese food is ok. It's less expensive than Distrito and JG Domestic.

Worth mentioning, other than JG Domestic, none of these places or the others suggested so far are really in comfortable walking distance of 30th St.

and apparently they are now expanding and adding space for meetings for parties.

A once favorite getting back to original form is the White Dog Cafe near Penn. Pod has good food in an interesting space both within a brisk walk of 30th.

While not tops on my list (but not bad either), If you book your party for 20+ guests by November 15, Positano Coast will give you a $100 gift card for free.

Granted you'd have to transfer to a trolley to get there from 30th St. Station...

you need to transfer to the El, not a trolley.

              Your right...my bad.

I close my eyes on SEPTA and think of happy thoughts thus my confusion.
