Lunch Suggestions near Fremont Courthouse?

I'll be at the Courthouse in Fremont for the next two weeks, and wondered if local 'hounds have any recommendations for lunch nearby.

Not too picky about type or ethnicity, as long as it's tasty. I noticed that there's a Chaat Cafe not too far away, and also understand Fremont might be a place to find Afghan treats; but any thoughts will be appreciated.

  1. There's a branch of Shalimar in the next block.

If you have a car, Sha Bistro, Mumbai Chowk.

    1. The two best known Afghan places are De Afghanan (get the chapli kebab or boulani) for a fast food/casual meal or Salang Pass for sit-down and more extensive menu.

Other spots in the vicinity include:

      Dosa Hut

      Cherry Garden

      Falafel etc.

      Munchner Haus

Krishna (and please give us directions if you locate it)

Shalimar would be my first choice, but then you might come out smelling like a tandoori oven. 3325 Walnut Ave.

There's other restaurants in that shopping center - I can't remember the names, all should be decent.

Sweet Tomatoes is walking distance. 39370 Paseo Padre Pkwy. Raley's is in that shopping center.

We got a new Whole Foods in Fremont - salad bar, dosa bar, wok station, beer on tap, hot foods ready to eat.
        3111 Mowry Ave.

Krishna Restaurant - I called them for directions. They are at Fremont Blvd & Grimmer near the Cloverleaf Family Bowl & Bank of America. Closed Mon. Other days open 11a-8p. Credit card allowed over $10, or extra 50c charge. 40645 Fremont Blvd Ste 1. PH: 510-656-2336
