I'm visiting my brother and girlfriend in a couple of weeks and would like to get them a gift certificate for a nice restaurant/pub. They live between Leeds and Harrogate. Not super-spendy please - I live in the States so get sticker shock at the best of times in the UK. More importantly, I just can't afford the high end stuff!
If I lived in that neck of the woods, I'd appreciate someone treating me to dinner at Van Zeller's in Harrogate.
Very reasonably priced at £50 for three courses.
I wish it had been open when we travelled there fairly often to see family.
My brother likes nothing better than the challenge of driving through the wilds of Yorkshire at night, preferably ideally with fog and sheep . . .
Given work schedules, they're actually more likely to go for a leisurely lunch, so it will probably come down to city vs country.
(Don't know why, but I couldn't reply directly to Mr Gimlet's post.)
