Visiting SD for 1 night

Will be visiting from LA for 1 night, doing the zoo during the day and staying in Gaslamp for the night.

What are your favorites for dinner and bars within walking distance around the Gaslamp area? Open to hear about any cuisine/price range

Thanks everyone!

edit: reading through the threads it seems like people don't recommend eating in Gaslamp. I guess we will consider any recommendation!

Cafe Chloe (technically not Gaslamp but very close) is one of the best places in San Diego and highly recommended for dinner. (Another possibility would be JSix (yes, a hotel restaurant but with very good food, they will be closed starting beginning of December for remodel). For a nice bar (cocktails) you could go to either Grant Grill Lounge or Lion's Share which are also both in the Gaslamp.

thanks! I will check those places out. It looks like JSix is in the hotel we are staying in.. which is great to know if we get too lazy to venture out

Ahem, Lion's Share is not in the Gaslamp.

That said, it's a solid recommendation. Take a rickshaw to get there from the Gaslamp.

If I had one night in the downtown area and wanted to have an after-dinner drink within walking disance of the Gaslamp, I think I'd go to Top of the Hyatt. Good cocktails and a terrific view -- 40 stories up.

          For after-dinner drinks, Noble Experiment.
