Restaurant Recommendation for 8

PattiCakes Nov 7, 2013 01:10 PM

I've been asked to find a restaurant for a business dinner for about 8-10 people. Out-of-town associates will be in town the week of 11/18, and would like to take a number of their home office partners to dinner.

The last time they did this, I arranged dinner at Bellini. It was great, everyone had a very good experience, but they do not want to repeat -- they want to experience another place. The safest bet for this eclectic group is Italian, with BYOB being perfectly fine. The price point would be similar to Bellini's. We are located at 20th & Market; it would be great if we could walk.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks. Still a little on the pricey side. How does this compare to, let's say, Davio's

        Davios is not byob.

I'm pretty sure Davios is significantly more expensive than Melograno. it's also a chain, but i do like it.

Maybe Branzino? You aren't going to fine much with lower-than-mid-20s entrees.

Caffe Casta Diva - while not nearly good as Melograno, I think it's a step up from Bellini, at reasonable prices.

UPDATE: It looks as though out out-of-town hosts are less than thrilled with a BYOB, and a survey of the invitees indicates a less-than-adventurous crew. They have decided that Maggiano's fits the bill for a number of reasons: they can seat a party of 8-10 easily; they have a bar; and they are close to a Regional Rail station.

Thanks for your advice, however. I will tuck those suggestions away for another time!

            Hi Patticakes,

I organized a dinner for 8 at Talula's Daily "Secret Supper Club" in October and the evening was lots of fun. Food and service was delicious and professional. I would definitely go again. The only slightly funky thing was we were seated at a table for 10 and halfway through the meal, a couple was seated at one end. Definitely something to ask about if booking. Beautiful space too, btw. Sorry I realize you specified Italian. The menu changes every month so you can see what the offer is. Three courses for $50 pp, before drinks, tip and tax.
