Fast Food in Malaysia?

The_Brush_Off Nov 7, 2013 10:47 AM

Does anyone have any experience with fast food in Malaysia? Interested in what restaurants are there, what they are serving, and general observations. Am planning a trip and very interested in what to expect. Thanks!

Its been a long time since I was there...2006 or 2007. Didn't go to many fast food places. I do remember going to McDonald's, and most of the menu was pretty familiar, but they had a burger on some sort of flatbread, with a spicy sauce on it. I also remember seeing many chains that aren't very common in the U.S., like A&W.

You can access some chains international websites to find out more, like McDonald's:

Pretty much every US chain has a presence there. :) McDonald's, Burger King, KFC (wildly popular, I might add), Dominos, Pizza Hut, A&W, Baskin Robbins, etc. Keep in mind that sometimes the offerings are different. For example, Malaysian restaurants tend not to serve pork products, so the Italian sausage on your Pizza Hut pizza will be beef or chicken.

Personally, I love fast food in Singapore and Malaysia -- we always make it a point to have McDonalds and Dominos at a minimum because the offerings are more Asian, like Prawn Sambal Pizza, Chilli sauce with my French fries, etc. All the stuff I don't get here!
