mid-week breakfast near London Bridge

  • 9

i'm meeting a friend for brekafast/brunch next Friday near London Bridge but am drawing a bit of a blank on where to go.

Roast is an option but not particularly interesting. On the river would be nice but Blueprint Cafe doesn't do breakfast and I can't think where else to look. Any ideas?

Thanks

  1. Croque Monsieur at Casse-Croute on Bermondsey Street.

    1. What about Elliot's cafe on Stoney Street? Really nice and decent coffee.

      1. If you want something bit out of the ordinary, El Vergel, about 10 mins walk away, is a South American restaurant that does lovely frittatas. I think it's on Webber street.

        1. the table behind the tate does a good breakfast/brunch - Its at 83 Southwark Street should be quiet during the week.

          1. Or for a traditional British Caff with 2 f's - Try franks cafe - perfect fry up and bacon sarnies . Its at 132 Southwark St and a lot cheaper than the table.

            1. thank you - some great ideas there. my vote would be for El Vergel but I shall have to see what t'others think!

Love to hear updates about El Vergel as it's been a long while since I've been there. Enjoyed it very much in the past, and should be great if it's still the same.

We went to El Vergel and really enjoyed it. I had the special breakfast - chorizo, beans and spicy scrambled eggs plus their homemade flat breads - which was enormous and delicious. Others had the scrambled eggs with chorizo (really good, not at all oily and served on a nice rye-style-but-lighter bread) and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and rocket (served on same rye bread, I didn't get to try this).

                  Good recommendation, thanks Linda.

Excellent. Must get back there myself (feel a long lunchtime beckoning) for a churassco queso.
