Good eats in the Marina District? [San Francisco]

Valyn Nov 6, 2013 07:36 PM

On Saturday night, we'll be dragging after flying in from Boston and doing a speed tour through the galleries on Geary. We're staying at an apartment in the Marina district, so I'd love a couple of recs for a low-key dinner.

Good breakfast places/bakery suggestions would be welcome, as well as some for good local markets.

Thanks ever so!

Just re-read this and it IS off-topic but are the galleries open on Saturday night? If so, you could eat at Puccini & Pinetti right in that nabe. We've eaten there a number of times and like it. Not haute cuisine but really good.

Most of the galleries on Geary close up at 5:30 and 6:00. And the Marina is JAMMED on Friday and Saturday nights with young hipsters so getting into any restaurant is really difficult without reservations.

If you have time, you might be happier walking down to Belden Alley from the Geary galleries and dining their - lots of restaurants that don't get too packed until later in the evening.

        Thanks, all!

I've made reservations at the Tipsy Pig for Friday and A16 for Monday. Depending on what we find in the galleries (and our energy levels), if we find ourselves still on Geary at 6pm, we may stay in that area for dinner.

Aquitaine is a few blocks from 49 Geary and very quiet on Saturday nights.

le marais is a nice bakery on chestnut.

lucca deli is a nice place for take-out italian sandwiches and other deli-type things.
