Japanese Restaurants between Baltimore and Washington D.C.

Pabu. Is this where I should go for my birthday? Price is mostly no object. If you wanted to eat the most authentic and freshest seafood, would it be here or elsewhere?

I've never been to Pabu but within the District the chef's counter at Sushi Taro would be my choice. The blog below will give you a good idea of what to expect as they change up their menu seasonally.

Pabu's food is good for Baltimore and OK overall - the sake list is the main highlight though. If possible I'd save a blowout Japanese meal for elsewhere.

I haven't been to Taro yet, but it's been recommended several times on trips to NYC. (or maybe it's the only place in the BAL/DC area people up there have heard of)

Pabu is delicious but a bit more modern and hip - Taro is more authentic, both are expensive but worth it.
