Hmong Village

The one at 1001 Johnson.

Got Papaya salad from Mrs. Papaya. Very good flavors. Liked the green beans in it. Hot, made my head sweat, but didn't overwhelm the other flavors. The heat came on after the papaya and other flavors.

Also go pork belly, sausage and purple rice from The Kitchenette. The sauce it came with was very good. I'd ask for extra next time. The sausages appeared fresher than the other vendors today. They had small diced green pepper in them. Maybe jalapenos? The pork belly wasn't just deep-fried. It was really good. The purple rice was also very good here, not a glutinous glop, but still sticky. The grains were still holding together, had a nice nutty flavor. I really liked it.

I've not always liked the food I've gotten at Hmong Village, but today I really liked all of it.

    I'm a fan but I don't make it over to St.Paul often.

Glad they have purple rice again, last time I was there, they didn't have it.
