Coming to NY next weekend. Staying with friends in upper east side. Line in Montana so am hoping to eat a bunch of good food while we are there. Location doesn't really matter. Not looking for fine dining, prefer tapas, small plates, Asian, sushi, anything fusion/funky. In terms of atmosphere would rather have urban, contemporary feel than old world or steakhouse.
What's your budget, per person, before tax, tip, wine/drinks? Have you done any research already?
How many people in your party? Are you willing to wait for a table? How long, up to 2-3 hours? Or are you willing to eat early or late, 5pm or 10pm?
Manhattan restaurants that are popular can also book up 3-4 weeks in advance so you're planning a bit late if you want some of the most famous places.
Did you already look into places such as Momofuku Ssam, Empellon Cocina, Pearl & Ash, Louro, Acme?
