De Buyer Mineral B Pans

Spent a significant part of the past 24 hours on this site researching carbon steel pans. I use a cast iron skillet a lot, and love my CS wok, but hadn't yet purchased a CS pan. De Buyer's Mineral Bs sounded great (decent company that made the mandolin I've used for ~10 years), so I started shopping around, which brings me to the purpose of this post. Found that for the next week BestBuy is offering these pans at 50% off (and prices are good to begin with). I'm in Canada (free shipping here), and not sure whether they'll ship to US, but figured I'd share. Just go to and search for De Buyer. Picked up the 12.5" and 10" for around 40 and 30 bucks respectively (price was so good I had to get two!). Description calls the pans "non-stick" but details, photo, and prod. number all seem to be correct. Sale only on for a few more days, so hopefully some people can take advantage.

  1. Thanks for posting this. I love De Buyer Mineral B, so I rushed to the website. I could find NO information about shipping to the U.S.! So I checked out Best Buy U.S., and the only "De Buyer" their search engine pulled up was for De Buyer mandolins. What? And give up my Benriner??? Anyway, thank you for your thoughtfulness. It's much appreciated by at least one person here.... Me! Thank you!

There website does not support a USA shipment. :-(

Noooooo! I am about to buy a dozen of these pans (I'm in California) and I haven't seen a price even close to this.

    2. Future company ,right?) also carries DeBuyer, not sure if the prices are the same...

      Even though I already have 2 pans,I just placed an order for 2 more(11" and 8")$67.00 + free could I resist? :)

I noticed that... in fact, the online landing page (and search pages) and sale are exactly the same. Don't know if they're the same company or if they've just outsourced all their exclusively online business. Convinced a friend (who was wanting a CI skillet) to pick up a couple... can always find CI used or on sale, but this deal was too good to pass up. My CI is great, but too heavy and too much specific heat capacity to make a good omelette, scrambled eggs, etc.

Thanks for the heads up! This is truly a great deal for these're gonna love em!

        2. re: petek

          Does offer international shipping?

At this time, we only ship online orders within Canada. But for your convenience, we deliver anywhere in Canada.

          1. re: Sid Post

The pans weigh a ton so "international" shipping would probably cost mucho $$$$.

Sometimes it pays to live in Canada eh :D
            That's why I bought 2 more...

            1. re: petek

I can get 5 2mm thick copper pans shipped to the USA from France for $82. Surely, the Canadian postal system isn't that expensive.

              1. re: Sid Post

Future Shop is pretty much the same as Best Buy up here. The sale ends today, but you might want to shoot head office an email(both best buy and Future Shop) and ask why they don't ship internationally. Maybe it's a Canada U.S "customs" thing.

                1. re: petek

I was told Canada Post does not allow shipments to the USA.

                  1. re: Sid Post

                    That's strange..
I have the same problem with a particular brand of shaving cream that's only sold in the U.S. I have to have my niece bring it to me when she visits from San Diego.

                    1. re: Sid Post

Well, if the Canadian Postal Service does not allow Best Buy to ship to the U.S., then WHY doesn't Best Buy offer these same De Buyer pans on the U.S. websites? It's not like De Buyer is a native North American brand manufactured in EITHER country! Ticks me off...!!!

          2. Thanks for the heads up, grabbed a pan today, unfortunately I won't get to use it until I either go back to Canada or until my parents come visit me.

When will you be going back to Canada?

              1. re: Chemicalkinetics

Yeah! And how would you like to make a little pocket money smuggling some back across the border for those of us with the wrong zip codes????? '-)

                1. re: Caroline1

My zip code is very different than yours unless you will be in Japan soon :p

                  1. re: TeRReT

Rats! Foiled again!!! <sigh> It was a good thought while it lasted... '-)

But wait a minute.... In Japan, you can buy induction ranges that work with COPPER POTS...!!!! hmmmm.... Unfortunately that won't work either. The Japanese government has export restrictions on those puppies that make this grown woman cry!

                2. re: Chemicalkinetics

I just was back in October so not for a year, but bmy parents will come in may

                  1. re: TeRReT

Will be back-back for good? Or more like back to visit?

By the way, are you official a Japanese cuisine chef or an Italian chef in Japan? I thought at one point that you were working or trying to work at a Japanese restaurant. Finally, did you get any new knife since we last talked? (6 months or so). I think you said that you wanted to visit one of the famous knife makers. Takeda?

                    1. re: Chemicalkinetics

I finally got my de buyer from my parents who just left Japan. Will season tonight or tomorrow and start to use it soon.

I haven't bought a Takeda yet though I will go visit there soon since its only an hour or so away. I did go to Osaka though a few months back and visited a few knife makers there including Konosuke. I purchased a Konosuke gyuto but they are very busy so my knife is still being made. I will get it eventually soon I hope.

                      1. re: TeRReT

Let's update. I would love to hear your experience with your DeBuyer pa and especially the Takeda tour.

<I purchased a Konosuke gyuto but they are very busy so my knife is still being made>

You buying a custom made knife then? (as opposed to the already made one). That is good. We don't that option. I bought my konosuke petty knife from Tosho Knife (Toronto), but of course it wasn't a custom knife.

                        1. re: Chemicalkinetics

I went out drinking instead of seasoning my pan. I will do that tomorrow. Did buy flax seed oil for the job.

Takeda visit probably won't be for two months. My konosuke is custom, I chose the steel, shape, handle, engraving, etc.

I got an hd2 gyuto, will take pictures when it arrives. Staff at konosuke were ridiculously nice. They have been so busy since the tomato youtube video.

Do you have a link to the specific video that drove a lot of traffic to them?

<I went out drinking instead of seasoning my pan.>

Yeah, I do that a lot. In fact, for every pan I seasoned, I drank about 100 times more.

<My konosuke is custom, I chose the steel, shape, handle, engraving>

So jealous. What did your engraved? What steel?

<They have been so busy since the tomato youtube video.>

?? You made that video? Why are they nice to you?
