Where to Have Good Coffee in Midtown

Staying at 6th and 53rd, looking for a place serving good coffee that's not Starbucks. Someplace to sit a while and savor a nice cup of fresh brewed coffee, good pastries would be a plus. Thanks in advance for your help.

sitting won't be easy, but there's a Ninth Street Espresso on 56th between Park and Lex, Zibetto's on 6th and 56th, and Blue Bottle on the concourse below Rockefeller Center near the Bouchon entrance.

Thanks coasts. There's Blue Bottle Coffee in the Bay Area which we love, any relation to NY?

Yes, same Blue Bottle and they have a few NYC locations now.

Zibetto and Blue Bottle don't have any seating at all, IIRC.

Zibetto is very much in the standing up drinking espresso European style spot.

For BB, you could probably enjoy it elsewhere on the concourse or outside.

The bar at Ma Peche (on 55th between 5th and 6th) serves excellent coffee and you'll have access to sweets at the adjacent Momofuku Milk Bar.

Great info and suggestions, thanks everyone! I almost forgot how expensive real estate is in midtown, so space is a premium.
