Email notifications

I have had the email notifications turned on for about 2-3 years and it never worked until about three days ago when I started getting them. Now it has stopped again. Can you look into it, please?

    For some reason your email address got bounced by our third-party provider. I've cleared it, so you should start receiving notifications again. Let us know if you have any further trouble.

      A few moths ago I asked for help in updating my e-mail address so I could get notifications. I got one inadequate response and nothing further was done. I'd like to try again. My new e-mail address is: bwein@att.net but, for some reason the program is not letting me make the change. Please help.

        Hi mucho gordo.

        I'm not sure why the system won't allow you to change your email address--those tools are working on our end. I've sent your info to one of the mods in hopes they can perhaps make the change manually on our end for you.

          This is extremely erratic. Some days I'll get 30 or 40 and the next day I receive none despite the fact that there have been some responses.

          It is annoying. Either fix it or trash it.

            How do I turn this off? I cannot find it anywhere on a drop down menu or click thru. It is too erratic and is causing a big headache for me.

              Top right corner is your screen name. Drop down menu, go to settings, go to Chowhound, and turn off the email notification. I'm about to that point myself. They're coming in a dozen or two at a time and they're all several days old.

          2. My email notifications suddenly stopped on October 28th. How can I start them again?

              Hi sandylc.

              I'm not seeing your email address on any bounced/spam reports from our third-party provider so I'm not sure why your notifications have stopped. Maybe double check under your Settings that you've got the box checked for notifications, just in case?

                  I've been hesitant to reply here because every time I click on your link the screen stays blank like it's searching but it goes nowhere for me. Maybe it's my iPhone?

                    For anybody else reading this, you can use the dropdown menu attached to your username in the top right corner of the page to select 'settings' and then 'notifications' to navigate to this page from desktop.

                      Hrmm. I'm getting notifications and they're only running about 5 minutes behind when posts are being made, so I don't think it's a general problem with notifications.

                        I only recently signed up for this and I get up in the morning (WAY behind those Right Coast folks!) and I'll have 50 or 60. Nothing then and still nothing. Just checked and the last one I got was at 4:19PM yesterday. Other emails are coming in fine. Not a biggie for me but thought I'd mention.

                          You know what....just a FYI, I thought I was having an issue with receiving notifications and it was actually my email was dumping them into my spam folder.

                          I haven't checked my account to see if that's the case today, but occasionally they get flagged as spam and are diverted from my in box. Take a look.

                            Nope. Just checked anyway but I'm pretty good at keeping that emptied. I don't get a lot so it's not a real burden.

                              Yeah I just checked mine too, nothing in there so that's not it. Ok up to the minds greater than mine to figure this out!

                        Thanks for your reports. We're not sure why only your notifications have stopped. We'll let you know if we're able to pinpoint the cause.

                              Oh, dear she-god in heaven, the two are 23 hours old!!!!!!!!!! If everything since then comes in, I'm going to scream. But I promise not to forward them to moderators@chowhound.com :)

                                    It seems like everyone has started receiving their email notifications again except me.

                                      Nope. I got about a dozen all right together this morning and they were all from a couple of days ago. And nothing since. It doesn't bother me a whole lot honestly. I'd never used the feature before so I'm not dependent on it.

                                        Yesterday they rolled in by the dozen and it seems like it got caught up. And now nothing since then.

                          2. I'm turning this off. It's so erratic that it's become a big headache and I end up getting email notifications hours after I have already seen the post.

                              So I turned this off 5 hours ago and I just got 57 email notifications in my inbox. This is pretty funny :-)

                                I still got them until last night. Now it seems to be off.

                            2. So right now I'm getting notifications from between 6 and 7 this morning. Even though I got emails throughout the day that were more timely - ?????

                              1. Just realized that I haven't had any notifications all day. Checked and the last one came in about 1245AM PST.

                                1. I can't take it anymore. No emails for 24 hours and now I've got 50 to delete. If there's any improvement to this I can return but this is just too distracting.

                                    We released a fix today that we hope will resolve the start-stop nature of some of the notifications. Let us know if you continue to have problems.

                                  2. Mine quit recently. I checked the settings, and notifications is still on. I thought maybe I was the last poster in all the topics I'd commented on, but I'm not. How can I fix this?

                                      Hi travelerjjm.

                                      Looks like your email address was bounced by our third-party service back on Feb. 9 for some reason. I've cleared the flag, so your notifications should start flowing again. Let us know if you continue to have an issue.
