    2. Haven't seen it (but I haven't looked)(haven't seen any ads).

      It looks like what's offered at some taco shops in San Diego. Some sell mashed potato tacos and some sell potato tacos made with Tots(or whatever the generic of Tots are), especially during Lent.

        Some of the best taquitos/rolled tacos around SD have the mashed pots in them...Aqui es Texcoco makes some of the best and thanks to Josh for turning me on to these bad boys!

      2. Potato tacos are not unheard of around here (I'm in SoCal). Good stuff. My ex-coworker's mom used to make them for us sometimes with sautéed potatoes and corn tortillas. We'd heat them up in the toaster oven at work. I've had them at a couple hole-in-the-wall taco joints before too. Another coworker used to make chicken and potato enchiladas for office potlucks, and they were always amazing. I don't know if I'd try the Taco Bell one, just because I'm not a fan of their tortillas, but it makes me want to make some at home!

        1. It's the beef and potato burrito reinvited. I haven't had since my college days, but I think I need to revisit!

            1. I don't we'll get it up here in Canada (we rarely seem to get the "experimental" items), but on looks alone, this looks pretty good. Would be even better with some ground beef beneath the potatoes, I would think.

              1. I've had their cheezy potato burrito with seasoned beef and, surprisingly, it isn't too bad for what it is.

                1. How experimental are they? They've been out where we are for at least 4 years.

                  1. My vegetarian girlfriend likes them. I've tried it. it's not bad. They had a promotional spicy version which had a better sauce. I don't like Taco Bell's tortillas so that was a minus for me.

                      Their tortillas are rubbery, aren't they? I think it's the same with most of the chains such as Baja Fresh and Chipotle.

                        They are doughy to me and in a dish the balance is always off (too much tortilla). Because of the tortilla, a soft taco actually has more calories than a crunchy taco (despite being fried).

                          You're right; doughy is probably a more accurate description.
