One night only (a Sunday) in SF

  • 5

Hi All. I realize this request is nothing new, but I can't seem to find a recent posting that is responsive. I haven't been to SF in a while, and was planning to go to either La Ciccia or Chez Spencer, but, sadly, La Ciccia is not open the night we'll be in SF and Spencer is here no longer.

Other places I'm thinking, though this is likely super outdated: Absinthe, L'Ardoise, Jardiniere, Zuni Cafe, Lulu's. We are looking for something with good food and cocktails/beers/wine, but not over the top. Noisy is fine - we'll be heading to dinner after a Niners game, so might be a bit enthusiastic ourselves. We are coming in from Vancouver, so we probably will want to stick with California/Cali-French fare. (I did see that State Bird has re-opened, but I imagine it's going to be impossible to get a table, so we probably should pass on this trip.)

Thanks in advance!

  1. Which Sunday is La Ciccia closed? They're normally open.

Nopa's very much in the Zuni / Lulu vein.

Nov. 9. I called to make sure as well since it didn't make sense to me. Nopa sounds great. Thanks!

    2. The "and cocktails" can be the hard part of the requirement. In the California space there is Nopa. For California-experimental there is AQ

In Cal-Italian space there is Locanda, Cotogna or Perbacco.

No cocktails at La Ciccia, just a fantastic wine list.

We celebrated a July birthday at Cotogna and the Sunday Supper was wonderful.
