NDG-ish for a cozy weekday lunch

I'm looking for warm soup, sandwich, maybe a pastry & cappuccino too... A cozy cafe for a good meal. No Gryphon.

Anything on Monkland or Sherbrooke that might fit the bill? I know the Premiere Moisson has tables, but it seems crowded.

Thanks!

Cafe Bano at 6929 sherbrooke st west. The meals are great, very reasonably priced and the desserts are to die for. Everything made from scratch by Paris who runs the place and does all the cooking. They are open for lunch only.Monday - Saturday. If the lunch specials are over you can get a chicken schnitzel which is also delicious.

Agreed. Not sure it is open Saturdays though.

          The OP said "weekday."

Thanks for the tip, yeggy - I need to check out this place.

I can also recommend Cafe Grand, Sherbrooke corner Grand, across from Akhavan. Just not sure they have soup.

I used to like Cafe Grand but their lunch menu the last time was pretty limited. I do like their coffees and teas and biscotti though.

I had a very good beef dip sandwich there. And I normally hate beef dip sandwiches.
