ISO recipe for black sesame ice cream

Anyone have a good one? I've seen a couple here and there but wanted to see if anyone had success with one. I'm pregnant and will be making mine without eggs but am happy to adapt a recipe to either a milk/cream base or cream cheese one.

I love the mochi balls filled with sesame ice cream they sell at Asian groceries but they are PRICEY. Thus I'd rather make my own.

In case you for some reason have multiple recipes, I am looking for a more intense sesame flavor (I get disappointed when I only taste a hint of the sesame) and I love myself a creamy ice cream!

  1. I've made this before using a recipe from Jeni's Splendid for my base along with 1/4 c. toasted and finely ground black sesame seeds. It is fine and very nutty, but I think it could use the help of a few tablespoons of black sesame paste for color and intensity.

Thanks, JungMann - do you grind them through a spice grinder?

This might sound a bit blasphemous, but I have packets of that powder to make black sesame porridge (or whatever you want to call it). I thought about dissolving that into an ice cream base before cooling but not sure how it would turn out. I should check out the ingredients first.

But I've never used black sesame paste... sounds like something I'd eat right out of the jar/tube! I'll have to research this. Let me know if you have a preferred brand.
