Bamboo Closed Temporarily

Herne Oct 28, 2013 10:29 AM

Past by Bamboo yesterday and there was a sign stating that it was closed Temporarily. Anyone know what is going on with what was the best Dim Sum place on the Danforth?

When I posted that they had closed here on Oct 9, http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/884515 they had already been closed for about a week.

Saying "closed temporarily" is another way of saying we are long gone. That is what I am sure happened here. Their phone has been continuously off-hook for over 3 weeks. If they planned to open again, I'd think that the prudent thing to do would be to have a recording mentioning when the re-opening is.

I walked by there often and it was always almost empty, whereas Christina's would have customers.

And the dim sum may have been OK, but I don't think it was the best. Have you tried Ha Gow Dim Sum House at 988 Danforth Avanue? That one seems better to me.

I have heard of Ha Gow but I never go to that end of the Danforth. I guess its Dundas and Spadina from now on.

It's not at the "end" of the Danforth! It's just west of Donlands. How is Dundas and Spadina closer?

And I don't understand how you can say Bamboo Cafe was "the best Dim Sum place on the Danforth" without even trying the others in the vicinity. Does that make any sense?

Hey folks, we removed a bunch of posts debating the safety of the neighborhood Bamboo was in. It's a subject we find doesn't go well on Chowhound, so it's one we generally consider off-topic. There were a couple of food related comments in there, too, so if anyone wants a copy of their own post back to edit and repost, you can reach out to us at moderators@chowhound.com and we can send it to you.
