First time European visitor to la Nouvelle Orléans and pretty excited!

I'm seeing the re-branded Hornets/Pelicans play the Lakers on the 8th of Nov and am looking for some pre and post game recommendations....pre-game ideally a quick but good bite to eat, post-game preferably a few refreshments before heading back to our B&B on Esplanade Ave. Especially anything within walking distance would be good. Thanks in advance!

Two good places are Borgne in the Hyatt next to the Arena and Little Gem Saloon across the corner from the Hyatt. Little Gem is more for the lighter food and the music while Borgne can be lighter or full menu.

And when I think of Esplanade I think of Meaux Bar on Rampart a few blocks off Esplanade. But this would be a stop on the way to/from the Arena

Probably not what a visitor is looking for, but I had some good Asian fare at Lucky Rooster before the Tulane game the other day. Tried several of their appetizers and thought their dipping sauces were very good. St. Marie along the same stretch of Poydras is another good option.
