Ristorante Civile, Randolph

bropaul Oct 26, 2013 01:07 PM

I stumbled upon this place by chance last night. Apparently it's been open about 6 weeks. A little more upscale for a strip mall restaurant, both in decor and price. It's a BYOB. I was wondering if anyone else had been?

Is it in Randolph, or in Morris Plains? A quick Google shows it might be in the same strip as Minado and Cinnamon, which is just west of Rt. 53...is that the location?

    They don't have a website--just a Facebook page--something I *can't* understand in 2013.

Yes, that's it. It's right next door to Cinammon. I always think of that as Randolph, though it could technically be Morris Plains. Their website appears to be under construction.

Officially, that's Parsippany but with a Morris Plains mailing address...take it from someone who grew up all of a mile away from there. :-) Randolph doesn't start until much further up Rt. 10--right after the Alexis Diner, iirc!

Randolph begins right at the intersection of So Salem St and Rte 10, which is just before the McDonalds, and then the Kmart shopping center. Alexis Diner is in Denville.

A month or so ago, on a trip to Cinammon, we stopped to look at the menu at Civile, it looked decent, def. aiming at a fine dining experience, but it seems a bit out of place considering the strip mall location. The owner should also contact and correct the info on Urban Spoon, as they have them listed as vegan friendly, and I know the menu is not anywhere near vegan friendly, heck it isn't even really suitable for vegetarians. (my daughter is vegetarian, so we always check menus beforehand)

Yet another reason I'm going to voice my pet peeve for places that open with NO web presence. I know that opening a restaurant is insane, but I wish restaurant owners would make basic info a priority as they open! Even if you can only get the basics (location, hours, a sample menu - WITH PRICES) goes a long way when people don't know anything about you! /rant

No wonder I was confused about the location . . .

Their website now appears to be up and running.
