event venues near Burlington, VT?

  • 2

My finance and I are getting married in Essex Junction, VT and are trying to find a unique space for a mehndi ceremony/rehearsal dinner in the Burlington area. We need to be able to bring in outside catering (vegetarian indian cuisine) but want to avoid a meeting venue/hotel space.

Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated!

  1. You should look into the VT State Parks system. There are several lovely places managed by the parks that make for gorgeous venues. You don't mention what time of year this will be taking place, but here's a link to their page about the rentals.

I draw your attention in particular to this venue:

I'm not sure who in the area does Indian catering, but you probably have a line on that. All the venues except Seyon Lodge allow outside catering to come in.

We had our vow renewal at Seyon Lodge (which is in Groton, so pretty far south from Essex Junction) and we had rogan josh along with various other dishes for the dinner (I wore a sari and my husband wore a sherwani suit during the ceremony, I just love the clothes :) ). They cook there, and they are brilliant cooks, but that's not what you're looking for. :)

This link mentions the panoramic Room on the upper level of the Burlington Waterfront Park Boathouse. Worth a call- a killer view! We also saw a tent set up near the water in that same park, so maybe they let you bring in all your own services; i have no idea.

Another thought: just south of Burl is Shelburne Museum w/ 50 historic buildings that were moved here to be an outdoor historic museum. i think some can be rented for events> the round barn, the carousel building.....
