A little dark and lively (especially on weekends) if that matters to you.

Rosemary's is great. Il Sodi is also good however is not mentioned on this board.

I like the Dell'anima/L'Artusi/L'Apicio restaurants. And there's always Babbo.

I also love the Epicurean restaurants, however it's unlikely that you can walk out for under $70 for two. Unless you order the cheapest dishes and do not drink.

Babbo is also a little over the specified budget... Otto and Lupa may be appropriate, though.

Babbo will cost $36 just in phone calls ;)

This is true. I spend 25 minutes trying to get through to them the other day. That must be a least $36 of my time! The OP said appetizer and entree for $36, so i assumed that didn't include drinks, tax, tip, etc. May have been too literal of a reading...

Not sure it's possible to get out of Perla for $36pp. Starters run in the $12-20 range while entrees can clock out above $30. I guess you can do a $12 starter and $24 pasta, but what's the fun of limiting yourself?

That said, I was there this week and loved the crispy testa, octopus, beef cheek agnolotti and duck.
