Thai restaurants

  • 6

I'm running a Modern Thai restaurant in Oslo, and will be on a food -inspiration trip to NY.
I'm interested in Thai, Malay, Lao food, but open to other Asian restaurants or street food. korean food is also interesting
Anyone?

Thanks

  1. The must visit in Queens:
Ayada--maybe the best Thai in NYC
Sri Sraphai-- also quite wonderful, but busy and frenetic if you go at a busy time. Excellent food
Chao Thai-- Also excellent, tiny space so time your visit or you will wait for a table --excellent food
Nusara-- not quite up to the others, but quite wonderful-- best duck salad IMO.

Great suggestions. Also check out Pok Pok (and it's associated lounge) in Brooklyn. Upscale (though not necessarily modern) northern thai food with great cocktails.

and order the "forest mushroom salad" at Pok Pok NY. The tamarind whiskey sour and drinking vinegars are fabulous if you like unsweet distinctly tart libation.

Plus if you like them, you can easily make shrubs (aka drinking vinegars) on your own!
