Nice Lunch Restaurant Around Union Square? (American, Italian or Sushi)

Hi Hounders,

I am looking for a nice weekday restaurant to have lunch within walking distance from union square. Preferred cuisines are American, Italian or Sushi (in no particular order). It's a "special" lunch so fast food is out...

Thanks so much in advance!

    What's your budget?

    Tocqueville
    Maialino
    15 East
    Union Square Cafe
    Gramercy Tavern
    Gotham Bar & Grill

Below $70 for 2 (incl. tips) would be good... Your suggestions are great, thanks!

What some of the prix fixe lunches at the above cost:

Tocqueville - $29 for 3 courses, Monday through Saturday.

Gotham Bar and Grill - $34 Greenmarket lunch, three courses, weekdays only.

Maialino - $35 for 2 courses with biscotti for dessert, weekdays only.

        15 East - 3 courses for $32, chef's selection

If you're OK with a soup/sandwich deal, Gramercy Tavern has a lunch special on weekdays in the Tavern Room (no reservations). For $16, you can get a soup and a sandwich which changes daily. They post to Twitter what the special is frequently:

Maialino has a similarly priced soup/sandwich lunch deal.
