feeling sad about people who stir the pot too often

trolley Oct 20, 2013 09:01 AM

what to do? i guess nothing. i suppose as someone said- "don't feed the trolls". well, what if your board is like a small town? I used to live in a large city where our "board" is comprised of so many (like any large metro area) that an instigator here and there did dismantle conversations but not enough to bother anyone too often. In my current city board there are only a few posters and they like to stir the pot often to the point of pointless bullying. i thought it was just me but i saw that another CH'er wrote to the person and said they decided to no longer post as the offender was making CH not fun anymore. I'm not looking for answers, just venting that this is no fun anymore for me either :(

"Opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one". Don't let it get to you, and ruin your fun. Just acknowledge their response by thanking them for their opinion, then proceed to IGNORE them after that. Or you can "flag" them.

Hi, letsindulge: "...then proceed to IGNORE them after that."

      +1 on that.

In my time here, I've learned that ignoring the preternatural stirrers usually brings them around to normalcy, and real discourse sometimes ensues. There is only one stirrer here who is utterly and forever dead to me. I think that's a good sign, actually.

one of the best Facebook posts to come down the pipeline was last week:

He who stirs the shitpot should be required to lick the spoon.

haha. i just saw another post where this CH'er instigates. he's pretty crafty too. it's all sort of woven in so you can't really pin point his to be an out right troll. what i'm sad is that 2 times i posed a "where can i find so and so in my new area?" question i got decimated and basically told to go back to LA.

The person who's never experienced being new in town is the one who never was brave enough to leave home.
Good luck in your new location.
