Sad News Laria's Cheese Shop (Nanuet) is Closing

It's true they have a valid point. The competition is fierce when it comes to cheese. Fairway may just have put them over the tipping point.

It's confirmed on their Facebook page. To ease the pain of losing the store, they're selling all their remaining stock at a 40% discount, starting yesterday.

Sad and shocking news. I was there just a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in a while, no one said anything then. Until that visit, I hadn't realized that the new owners had expanded their hours a bit, making it more accessible. When Larry Laraia owned it, the store closed at 5 during the week and was open only Saturday mornings on the weekend, making it challenging to get there. Laria's was a bit of a hidden treasure, and maybe that was the problem--not enough people knew about it.

Sorry to hear that a small place is closing. I've spent a lot of time in Nanuet over the years, but never heard of or saw this place.

laraiascheese.com I copied the email I received, so that's probably why my link didn't work. I don't see the note on their website. But you can see what a nice store it was.

Made me really sad I didn't know about it sooner! I'm often killing a couple hours in Nanuet, so I know I would have gone there.

Am I right that International Foods closed, too?

I think so, that's the place on upper 59 near Spring Valley? It's a bit far for me, so I never went there. Laraia's was a nice shop, but I only went when I was entertaining so I'm guilty of not going as much too.
