Truffle Gohan at Shunji's --- anyone up for a chow meet up ????

You may want to check on the availability. Last time I was there I asked about the dish. I was told it's in between truffle seasons right now, and if they can't get enough late summer (burgundy) or early winter (black) truffles, if the only truffles available are the much more expensive white truffles, then the truffle gohan would likely be cost prohibitive for both the restaurant and the customer.

FWIW, Shunji mentioned that a customer once asked for what I called the "tricolore" truffle gohan with burgundy, black, and white truffles. Too rich for my blood...
Haven't had it myself, but basically it's a large serving of (seasoned?) rice with truffles shaved over it. You put some in in your own personal bowl, then mix with accompaniments, egg yolk, uni, ikura, pickled vegetables, etc.
