Hi!
Looking for a reasonably priced restaurant for either Sunday brunch or lunch for a 70th birthday party for my mother. I live near trenton, NJ and my moms family is near Allentown, PA. Trying to find something reasonable and half way so no one has to travel too far.
Thanks!
Ronnie

Not sure if the location would work, but the William Penn Inn is charming.

I had my mom's 80th birthday there . . . everybody was pleased with their meals. And they have a great pastry chef, so the cake was delicious as well. We were a party of 20-25 and had a very nice private room on the second floor.

Great! Thank you for the response!
Did you go for the brunch with your party and then have them make you a cake? (arraigned ahead of time, of course) :)
          Thanks again!

No, we did dinner for that birthday.

However, a few years back we had a family "girls" brunch when my youngest niece was heading off to college. I think there were 10 of us and they seated us in a smaller second floor room. It was a very pleasant experience (they have the full buffet setup on the second floor as well). I am sure if you ask for a birthday cake when you make the reservation, they'd be happy to oblige. I also don't recall if I had to specify a private room when I made that reservation or if they just provided it because of the size of the party.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the info! It looks like a very nice place! I think mom will love it! We need a private room, since it gets very loud when she gets together with her sisters! :)
              Have a great day!

What about the Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales? We got married there in 2007, and they have private rooms for varying sized groups as well as a good variety of menu options.

They did have a brunch menu option for a private event, IIRC. I don't know if the restaurant offers brunch though.

The Wm Penn is a very nice restaurant and the food is predictable, although frequently seasonal additions have been very interesting as in their German October Menu.

My concern now that I have look closer at the original post is that Lower Gwynedd, the Wm Penn, is not between Trenton and Allentown. If it is it is one convoluted route. It is between Philadelphia and Allentown as the heading requested. So if it is Trenton and Allentown I think you will be way off course.

I'm not so sure. I did a generic Trenton to Allentown on yahoo maps:

Directions to: Allentown, PA on Yahoo! Maps:

          http://maps.yahoo.com/directions/?lat...

And the first route suggested came very close to Lower Gwynned.

Got the map, that route is typical of a mapping tool, certainly not as the crow flies. But then no one suggested flying or crows. As with many GPS and/or map programs, with any knowledge of local routes, one would not follow the directions . Draw a line on the map provided from B to A, a point along that route would be "between". The map does indicate the possible route which could facilitate a visit to the Wm Penn and thus perhaps useful to the OP, good call. But I can't imagine convincing my friends or colleagues that the Wm Penn is between Allentown and Trenton, map or not.

Black Bass Hotel, Frenchtown Inn or Golden Pheasant Inn are like WPI and in between Allentown and Trenton. Also might want to check the Clinton House, Grand Colonial and Perryville Inn. All are just off 78 just east of Phillipsburg.

Admittedly geographical locations are not my bailiwick.
But if the Glasbern Inn is an in-between area you've struck gold!
              http://www.glasbern.com/lehigh-valley...

I also believe that the Mainland Inn will be open and completely refurbished by then as well in Harleysville.

Why not some place along the Delaware River? In Frenctown, Milford, Stockton, Center Bridge, New Hope or Lambertville? I like Lovin Oven in Frenchtown and The Stockton Inn. Lots of places in these towns in all price ranges.

Thank you for the suggestion! I love Lambertville & New Hope. That is pretty close to where I live, so It may be too long of a drive for my mothers sisters. Next time in Lambertville, check out Café Galleria, it's own by a friend of mine.

I've been to Cafe Galleria many times. Love it! So maybe the Reiglesville Inn, Reiglesville Tavern or someplace else more north from you would be good?

Good thinking littlecmad that area would be what I would call a more direct route between Trenton and the Allentown area. Unfortunately I do not know places further toward Allentown as those I know are in Lambertville, Stockton, Washington Crossing or New Hope area. Frenchtown would definitely be a more equal traverse for each driver.

Its not a bad drive from Allentown to the Delaware River. Basically you can go 78 or 22 East cross at Philipsburg and head down the Delaware River on the Jersey side. Milford would not be that far from there, and the Ship Inn and Milford Oyster House are there. I would defer to littlecmad about Frenchtown. Stockton Inn is decent in Stockton,

How about the Washington House in Sellersville? It will be closer for the Allentown folks, but a pretty drive from the Trenton area up the river, out 202, then 313 (and various routes from there). I believe they still have a Sunday brunch, and they do have private rooms.

We are having it on the 8th. was going to go with William Penn, because their brunch seemed the nicest, but we could not get a private room. So I ended up making reservations at The Farmers Daughter in Blue Bell. It is pretty central and easy to get to. I appreciated all your help in looking for a place! Thanks for helping make it a special day for my mom! :)
