Intimate 30th Birthday Party in SF. Looking for a good venue. Any help much appreciated :)

It's one of my friend's 30th birthday's in early January. Looking for a place that could be somewhat private for 15-20 people. Preferably: nice view, good food and cocktails, somewhat dressy attire. Any neighborhood can work and budget is not an issue. Thank you in advance for your help!!

    Actual Suggestions:

Farina has an upstairs patio area that is pretty private. It is easy / casual, but sometimes people have dressy / special occasion events there, and it doesn't seem at all out of place.

Boulette's Larder does (expensive) private dinners. I've never done one, but they look nice.

I don't know the banquet situation with Epic Roadhouse or Waterbar, but i'm sure those are worth looking into.

private + good view -- i'm eager to hear some good responses as well.

oops, i think you're right about boulettes. they might be able to accommodate with their new space -- might be worth asking. somehow i vaguely remember seeing a small cocktail cart in there. but i might be mistaken.

doesn't farina have a full bar? are you sure they don't do cocktails?

Farina has a full bar according to OpenTable.

Oh, right. Bouli Bar. They got a full liquor license in July. So that's a good fit.

Farina did too, several years ago (they bought Harbor Village's). I was looking at an outdated page.

Don't know what kind of liquor license Bouli Bar has (Yelp says beer & wine only), but I wouldn't expect a place that's open Tue-Sat 11am-3pm to have a great cocktail program.

They started dinner hours 5-9 yesterday.

Other than the Slanted Door, the Ferry Building is pretty dead in the evening. Even MarketBar closes at 9 (8 on weekends) even though it's in a much more accessible location than Bouli. I highly doubt that Bouli will ever have a successful cocktail bar.
